Editorial/Personal Work
This illustration is part of the artist’s thesis project, Our Endless Tomorrows. The piece is inspired by the role of the eldest daughter in a traditional Vietnamese household, where it often emphasizes familial responsibility and the expectation to care for the physical and emotional well-being of others.
The illustration explores how the older sister continually puts aside and neglects her own needs and well-being in order to care for her younger sister. Meanwhile, the younger sister is portrayed as being largely unaware of her surroundings and focused primarily on her own needs. Through this dynamic, the piece reflects on the emotional weight of being the eldest daughter and the ways that responsibility can lead to self-neglect.
